Stunning in pots/containers or borders of the garden. Begonia double yellow has stunning sunshine yellow flowers. We supply large 6/+cm tubers as they produce a mass of colour throughout the summer. Ideal for all gardens Begonia double yellow will brighten any garden and they are also particularly good in pots.
Plant Indoors: From January to March plant tubers in trays or pots covered with 1cm compost. Keep the soil moist and when the fear of frosts has passed the begonias can be hardened off and planted outside.
Plant outdoors: Alternatively they can be plant direct into containers or borders outside from April on-wards. Soils should be well cultivated to a fine crumb and the tubers planted with the top just showing above the soil level. Protect young shoots from slugs and snails and feed during the leaf and flower stage for continued growth.
If planting in pots use a 50/50 mix of multi purpose compost and something similar to John innes number 2 to provide good drainage. Begonias have a long flowering period which starts in July and goes right through the summer.
It is often difficult to tell which way up to plant begonias but the stems will appear from the rough or concave side of the bulb.
Begonias can be lifted after flowering and stored in frost free areas for planting the following spring. Dust with yellow sulphur to help with storage.
