Description

Paeony Duchesse de Nemours has rich creamy-white petals. Peonies are simply glorious and Paeony Duchesse de Nemours will tolerate many types of soil and they are hardy even in the coldest of gardens. Peonies are also remarkably pest and disease resistant plants. Great features in cottage gardens or herbaceous borders as the foliage remains green for a long period of time.

Cultivation instruction

Plant Indoors: Peonies can be started off indoors from January to March although they are fine to be planted straight out into soils that are not waterlogged. Plant in a mix of multi-purpose compost, sand and grit as this will provide drainage for the crown. Protect young shoots from snails and slugs, can be re-planted outside or the container positioned outdoors.

Plant outside: Soils should be cultivated to a depth of 20cms to allow good root development. Before planting, prepare the area by digging in well rotted compost and grit in heavier soils. Plant crowns approx 5cm below the surface of the soil and avoid using any high content nitrogen fertilisers on them during the growing season. Peonies are also remarkably pest and disease resistant plants. A great feature in cottage gardens or herbaceous borders as the foliage remains green for a long period of time. Regularly feed during the growing season with foods such as are well rotted manures, Tomato feed and bone meal will provide food for continued flowering.

Paeonies can be left in the garden undisturbed for many years and as such they flowering performance will get better each year.
