Zantedeschia Captain Melrose has spathes of pale pink to white.
Plant Indoors: Zantedeschia Captain Melrose make an ideal pot plant and can be left indoors to flower. Plant in a house plant soil mix which will provide good drainage for the tuber. Place the tuber so that it is 5cms below the surface and keep the soil moist but not to wet. Once the shoots appear increase watering and feed with tomato food or similar every couple of weeks.
Plant outside: From Late March on wards, when the signs of frost have passed they can be planted outside. Prepare soils in late March to April by cultivating them to a depth of 10cms to allow good root development. Plant tubers in fertile soils with 5cms of soil above the top of the tuber. Protect early growth from slugs and snails and Regularly feed during the growing season with foods such as are well rotted manures, Tomato feed and bone meal will provide food for continued flowering.
Summer flowering plants which are not hardy in UK gardens and thus need to be lifted and stored in frost free areas over winter. Alternatively grow in containers and once they have finished flowering withhold water and once dormant the container can be placed in a frost free position without removing the bulbs.
When growing outside in containers follow the instructions for indoor growing and using a multi purpose compost with added grit to help with drainage.
Some of the taller varieties can be used as Cut Flower.
Grow indoors in pots alongside other indoor flowers such as Achimenes.
