Tomato Tumbling Tom Red is a very compact type of tomato which is perfect for hanging baskets and patio containers. It produces an abundance of cherry-sized delicious fruits and tomato tumbling tom red can be grown indoors or outside

There can hardly be a glasshouse in the country that does not have a few tomato plants growing in it, as nothing tastes quite like a tomato freshly picked from your own garden. Even if you have a window box you can produce your own tomatoes.

Tomatoes are so versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes. They can be sliced to go into a sandwich or salad, chopped to be used in many Italian sauces such as a delicious bolognese or if they are a bigger variety, they can be stuffed and baked.

Nutritional values: High in Vitamin C and lycopene.

Pack size: Approximately 10 seeds

Cultivation Instructions:

Sowing Indoors: Sow seeds from January to April/May. Seeds should be grown under glass 0.5cm(1/4 in) deep in pots or trays of good seed sowing compost and lightly cover with a sprinkling of vermiculite or compost. If possible to speed up germination place containers in a propagator at a temperature of 18–21°C . If you have not got a propagator that is fine as seeds will still germinate.

Prick out seedlings, once large enough to handle, into 9cm (3 1/2in) pots. Transplant to the greenhouse border soil, or individual large pots, or 3 plants per grow bag when 20cm (8in) high. They can also be planted outdoors once all risk of frost has pasted.

Plants require side shooting and support for the best yields. Water and feed plants regularly with a high potash feed once the first truss has set.

Sow/Plant outdoors: Tomatoes are best grown outside in pots or grow bags although they can be planted direct into vegetable patches. Start plants off as above and once they are 20cm (8in) high and the fear of frosts have passed they can be planted outside.

Do not plant if soils are waterlogged.

Handy Tips:

When the plants reach the top of the glasshouse or have seven trusses, remove the growing tip two leaves above the top truss.

Keep slugs and snails away from young plants and remember to regularly feed with tomato food
