Cultivation instruction

Indoor planting: For the best effect plant outside for summer colour.

Plant outside: Plant this frost hardy cultivar outdoors when dormant in moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil.  Cultivate soils to a depth of 15cms and add in heavy soils add grit to help with drainage. Plant them 10cms deep and 8-10cma apart and for the best effect plant in groups of 3 or more. In colder gardens provide them with a deep, dry winter mulch over winter. Roscoea are well suited for growing in borders, containers and rockeries. Add root grow when planting to help with root development.

Avoid deep shade

Do best if they are allowed a dry dormant period after flowering.

Keep soils moist in the first year to help them establish.
