Lettuce Little Gem is outstanding for its flavour and as such is one of the tastiest lettuces available. Lettuce Little Gem is a popular semi-cos type, with glossy green leaves and a crisp balanced heart. It produces small compact heads of bright green. with an outstanding texture.

Lettuce are one of the staple ingredients in a crispy, fresh summer salad, what could be better than growing your very own lettuce to add to your tasty salads.

Nutritional values: A good source of anti-oxidants such as beta carotene, lute in and vitamin C as well as vitamin K.

Cultivation Instructions:

Sowing Indoors: Sow lettuceĀ under glass from February to July, Seeds should be sown into pots or trays filled with seed sowing compost. Lightly cover seeds with a sprinkling of compost and keep at a temperature of 15-20C. Lettuce sown under glass can be pricked out into individual pots or module trays and grown on until they are ready to harden off and plant out into the vegetable patch.

Sow/Plant outdoors: Alternatively sow seeds outside from April into well cultivated soils. Sow seeds in rows 1.5cm deep and in rows 30cm apart. During the growing season the lettuce can be thinned and replanted at correct spacings.

Keep lettuce watered regularly for the best results. Lettuces mature quickly at about 10-14 weeks.

Care Tips:

Even in very limited space this variety can be use in Grow bags, large pots or window boxes give good regular crops.

For salads sow every 7 days all year round and harvest and us as they mature.

Soil type: Indoor growing compost or well cultivated free draining light soils that are humus rich.

Aspect:

Position: Greenhouse, window sill or outdoors in warmer temperatures. Can be grown in tubs and containers.

Harvest: April to August. Normally 10-12 weeks after planting
