Cultivation Instructions

Dwarf Iris naturalise really well and as such will flower for a number of years. Cultivate the soil before planting to a depth of 10-15cms and dig in plenty of organic matter to provide food in the their first growing year. Bulbs should be planted 5cms deep and 5cms apart in groups of 10 or more for the best effect. They prefer to be grown in full sun although they can be grown in semi shade. Ensure soils are well drained and do not dry out in the summer. Iris also perform really well when planted in containers. Allow foliage to die back after flowering, you can remove the leaves when they have turned yellow. After flowering, feed with a high potash fertiliser, such as tomato feed, to encourage large bulbs to form.

Care tips:

Work well when grown with snowdrops and specie crocus.

Water bulbs after planting and apply a mulch of compost in November/December.

Feed regularly during the growing season with  bone meal or tomato food.
