Description
Hyacinth multiflora blue has heads of delicate porcelain blue containing masses of tiny flowers. These graceful hyacinths are a joy for the house or garden.
Hyacinths are often associated with spring and rebirth. The name is derived from the story of Hyacinthus, upon whose death the flower sprang forth. He was a divine hero and a lover of Apollo from Greek mythology.
Multiflora hyacinths are not one full spike of flowers but several smaller spikes with less flowers. They enhance and give a more natural look in your planting schemes. In addition they look stunning if you plant in groups of 3 or more in a pot or in the border.
Cultivation Instructions
Hyacinths flower in March/April and provide a huge amount of fragrance to the garden. Cultivate soils to a depth of 20cms or more and plant bulbs 10cms deep and 8cms apart in soils that have moderate fertility. They are fully hardy in free draining soils so can be left to over winter. The addition of bulb starter to the soil will enhance the root formation.
