Description
This is oneĀ of the most popular of all the fritillarias. The flowers of Fritillaria meleagris are purple with white speckles. They can still be seen growing wild in many areas of the UK. Fritillaria Meleagris are ideal for naturalising in areas of the garden that are shady and will hold moisture most of the year. They work well when planted in meadow grassland and slightly boggy areas. Cut the grass short at the end of the growing season so that they do not have too much competition in the early spring.
We supply some of the top size bulbs available as we know this will help them to establish and naturalise quicker.
Cultivation Instructions:
Cultivate soils to a depth of 15cms and plant bulbs as per the growing information below. They are best suited growing in soils that do not dry out and are humus rich and free draining. To help with drainag in heavier soils such as clay, add grit and dig in some well rotted humus. They naturalise really well and will spread out to cover a wide area. A lovely group of bulbs that are ideal to grow in semi to full shade, in the damp shadier borders or next to ponds for example. They bring superb colour to the garden, flowering in April/May and of course they work well with many plants and bulbs.

Remember to feed well during the leaf and flowering stage to ensure they grow and bulk up well for subsequent years growth.
