Description
Oxford Gold is a dwarf variety which is sweetly scented. The flowers of Oxford Gold are golden yellow, sweetly scented and dwarf, what more could you want! We grew this variety last year in containers and at the front of a border and it really stood out.
Cultivation instructions
Specie narcissi will easily naturalise from year to year and are ideal for growing in the wild parts of the garden, borders, rockeries and containers. Grow with other dwarf bulbs such as crocus, iris and anemone blandas. Cultivate soils to a depth of 15cms and plant bulbs as per the instructions below, in soils that are well drained. In heavier soils add grit and humus matter during cultivation to help with drainage. They will benefit from using bulb starter when first planting. Feed during the leaf and flower stage to ensure the bulbs are fully nourished to provide the following years growth.
Protect early growth in the spring from slugs and snails and remove dead heads after flowering (if not using as a cut flower) to get the best from them.
Care tips:
Tip: Keep daffodils well fed during the growing season and remember to lift and divide after a number of years. Specie daffodils will work well when grown with a crocus and double early tulips
Ideal foods are well rotted manures, tomato feed and bone meal.
