Indoor Planting: Grow in containers indoors using a good quality indoor compost but best suited for growing outside.

Outdoor Planting: Plant Crocosmia outside from February on wards in soils that are not waterlogged. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 15-20cms and plant corms 10cms deep and 8-10cms apart. In heavy soils add plenty of humus matter and or grit to help with drainage. Prefer full sun, but also perform very well in the semi-shaded areas of the garden. After flowering they produce attractive seed heads.

Plant in areas that are not exposed to the worst of the elements and in soils that have not been freshly manured. Ensure that they are fed regularly during the growing season.

Keep well fed with foods such as rotted manure, tomato feed and bone meal. Mulch borders over the winter.
