Description

Chionodoxa luciliae alba is  one of the earliest bulbs to flower hence why we suspect they are commonly know as ‘Glory of the Snow’. The flowers of Chionodoxa luciliae alba are a pure white. Its dwarf growing habitat is ideal for covering those areas under trees and shrubs that are bare. They are a very useful group of bulbs that are easy to grow preferring well drained soil and the sunnier parts of the garden.

Cultivation Instructions:

Cultivate soils to a depth of 15cms and plant bulbs as per the growing information below. In heavy soils such as clay add grit or humus matter to help with drainage. In sandy soils add organic matter to help with fertility. They will naturalise really well and spread out to cover a wide area.

Protect early growth in the spring from slugs and snails .  Ideal foods are well rotted manures, grass clippings, tomato feed and bone meal.

Care tips:

They will naturalise very well, plant in most soils that are free draining. In heavier soils such as clay cultivate the top layer of soil and add grit and well rotted humus and this should provide the drainage that they need.
