Anemone Sylphide has pink flowers that can be up to 7.5cms across. Anemone Sylphide is very good for using as a cut flower but they are also a great garden plant. Ideal for growing in containers either on their own or with other plants and or bulbs. The single flowers of Anemone de caen are quite stunning and once established in your garden will come back each year.
Anemone’s prefer to be grown in the sunnier areas of the garden for best performance. They like to be grown in fertile soils, which can be achieved by adding well rotted humus matter to the soil when cultivating. Alternatively food such as bone meal or rotted compost can be added to the area after planting. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 15-20cms and plant the soaked corms as per the instructions below. Keep soils moist in the first year to encourage good root development.
Soak the bulbs for 8-12hrs (overnight) in warm water before planting, keep well watered in their first growing year to help them develop strong roots. Using bulb starter when first planting will help them to establish for future years flowering.
Keep well fed during the growing season and if possible mulch borders with well rotted manure or compost over the winter.
